The project is represented by Relsah Films, founded by filmmaker Elliot Hasler, and marks an exciting addition opportunity for Reel2Reel Films’ alongside Trinity Content Partner to further expand their growing catalogue of distinctive independent cinema.
Elliot Hasler commented:
“A Requiem for Desire is a sensual, psychologically charged drama set in Sussex, England, following Rose, a wine taster whose fragile sense of identity and troubled personal life leave her yearning for escape. Invited by her friend Amber to a wine tasting at an enigmatic Victorian house, Rose becomes captivated by Edward, a magnetic stranger whose presence feels uncannily intimate. As she gives in to this intense and mysterious attraction, she begins to write, unlocking fragments of memory that blur the boundary between past and present.
Drawn back to the house again and again, Rose finds herself consumed by a connection that defies logic, as fleeting visions and buried emotions suggest a love that may transcend time itself. As her reality begins to fracture, the film explores desire as both intoxicating and destructive, an irresistible force that entwines passion, obsession, and fate in a haunting cycle she may not be able to escape.”
The film marks the feature debut of Sophie Karl, who also serves as writer, producer, and lead performer. The cast includes BAFTA winner Adam Deacon, alongside Melinda Messenger, Heather Small, Cristian Vit, Amber Doig-Thorne, and Nina Naustdal.
A Requiem for Desire has already gained international recognition on the festival circuit, earning awards including Best Actress and Best Producer at the East Village New York Film Festival, Best Acting Duo at the Los Angeles Stars Film Festival, and Best Actress and Female Filmmaker at the Sweden Film Awards.
Andy Taylor, Commercial Director, said:
